The engine within all FourTrax Ranchers is a 420cc fuel-injected liquid-cooled single-cylinder. Both models equip a five-speed manual transmission complete with a reverse gear, the only difference is that the ES version has an electric shift button located on the left-hand grip. Honda says that the Electric Shift Rancher has a specific shift map that monitors engine rpm in real time in order to smooth out gear transitions. A direct drive shaft sends power to the rear wheels.
